Each primary Graha rules an odd and even sign, or male and female. Male and female are archetypes and energies, not labels that define a single person.
Odd (Male) & Female (Even)
“Male and female are archetypes and energies, not labels that define a single person.”
The even female signs represent internal energy whereas male signs represent external energy. Mars rules Aries and Scorpio, and Aries is associated with outward anger and action whereas Scorpio is associated with internal anger that festers, as well as deep inner transformation.
There are also 6 primary Chandas that begin in even but manifest in odd signs. The 6 Vedic seasons, or Rtus, do the same. Vasant (Spring) starts with Sun’s entrance into Pisces and ends with Aries. Similarly, unless applying the exception of the 1st and 7th house axis, the Arudha Lagna (pada) will only manifest in an odd sign.
But nothing can manifest without the feminine. The second house is speech, savings, close family, and food to balance the seventh house of business, trade, and marriage. The fourth house is heart, love, home, and nourishment to balance the tenth house of work life.
